USED Ibanez 1977 2700 Artist Custom Dark Stain w/road case - CONSIGNMENT
Vintage 6 String Electric Guitar with neck thru body construction, 2 humbucking pickups, active preamp and road case in Excellent condition.
The 2700 is an Artist Series electric solidbody guitar first introduced in 1978 and discontinued in late 1979.
They were made fujigen Japan.
What do you get when you cross and Artist with a Musician??
It's an Ibanez joke!
The 2700 Artist was basically a cross between the Artist 2622 and the Musician (Series) MC500 - that featured active electronics.
The Artists and Musician Series were favorited by many 70's guitar players, most notable was Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead.
This guitar features a Neck Thru Body "Sandwich" construction with Ash wings.
The Ash Wings were sandwiched with Zebra Wood and Maple.
The whole guitar has a very exotic wood look to it - it was also available in a solid black finish (with the same wood construction) but obviously without the exotic look.
The neck is a 7 piece walnut/maple construction.
24 Fret Ebony Fret Board, with abalone inlays.
Gold hardware including tune-o-matic bridge mounted in a sustain block that's recessed into the neck - remember it's a neck thru construction, gibraltar "Cloud" tailpiece.
And... Velvetune Machine Heads - Please bring back the naming schemes from the 70's!!
Pickups are the classic Ibanez Super 88's, housed in integrated plastic covers giving a bit of a stealth look.
There's a Tri Sound Switch for each pickup and a master Volume and Tone control.
A 2 way switch activates the active eq system that gives you +-15db boost/cut for bass, mid, treble.
The Active EQ is powered by a 9 volt battery.
This Consignment guitar is in Excellent condition with some play wear/small dings here and there. The Serial number dates it December 1977 and these were available for purchase at the start of 1978. So, this is an early one even though it was only made for 1 year.
Again, there is some light play wear but for something that's almost 50 years old, it's in Excellent condition.
All this laminated exotic wood does come at a slight weight price - it weighs in just a little north of 10 pounds
Comes with a custom made case - slightly looking road case - that was made of the owner back in 1978. He played this guitar for years in the bars/weddings/parties/etc.
It's a great, rarely seen, older Ibanez Electric that's super versatile and very cool!
