The AV series by Vox is, essentially, a line of analogue modelling amps. Most modelling amps rely on digital technology to simulate different amp circuits, and therefor, different sounds. The Vox AV's Amp model switching ACTUALLY engages different, all analogue signal paths to deliver the tone and, more importantly, the feel of different amps. 8 different voices are at your disposal, from "American" sparkling cleans to modern "British" sounding drive tones and beyond. Included in these amp voices are the Vox AC15 and AC30 amps. The AV series amps feature hybrid solid state/tube technology and have a few clever switches that allow you to alter the character of the two 12AX7 tubes in the amp. Dial in Bright and/or Fat settings in the preamp tube section, and choose between power amp tube bias settings (modern and vintage), and reactor settings (rectifier "sag" or not). A few digital tricks are under the hood in these amps though, in the form of digital reverb, delay, and modulation effects. The AV30 puts out 30 watts of power through a Vox Original 10" speaker in a closed-back configuration for increased cabinet resonance.
