A wonderful late 70's Japanese Made electric guitar!
When was the last time you saw an S.D. Curlee by Hondo guitar?? We don't see these much and look at this... with the custom pinstriping too! Howw cool is that!?!
S.D. Curlee were designing and building guitars in the USA when they decided to partner up with Hondo and have more affordable guitars made overseas.
These were often called the designer series. This model, the Salvarez, features a mahogany body with a unique bolt on 24 fret maple neck construction - something S.D. Curlee were known for. The neck actually extends into the body up until the bridge and is bolted on (like a Strat or Tele) VERY similar design to the guitar Brian May (Queen) built with his dad(!)
Original Dimarzio "High Output" pickups and brass bridge. The original Brass Nut has been changed and the original kobs have been swapped out for Fenders.
And there's the obvious pinstripe paint design that's been added to it. Very cool though!
It's in Very Good ++ condition with some slight wearing, most notably at the top of the headstock.
Like a lot of Japanese Made Mahogany body guitars from the 70's, it weighs 9.3lbs.
These are very unique and cool guitars - check it out!
