People tend to associate the 9 as a cryptic way of saying it's a copy of a TS-9 Tube Screamer pedal.
This is a simple yet versatile, and powerful, overdrive pedal based on multiple discreate transistor gain stages.
The tone knob has a wide range able to get you low beefy bottom end without getting muddy.
The Gain knob can be a fairly light overdrive through to a pretty gainy distortion sound.
The gain circuit creates amp like harmonically driven sounds.
